Blender Market

May 11th 2020

Launched by CG Cookie in 2014, The Blender Market can be viewed as CGC's start-up project.

It began with a question of, "What if...". "What if we created the first digital marketplace for the Blender community?" What if we could enable an eco-system that not only helped create a commercial space for Blender creators to craft a living, but also increase funding to Blender core development.

(Early 2014 meeting talking about the Blender Market, before it existed Kent Trammell, Kyle Unzicker, Matthew Muldoon, Jonathan Williamson).

The Blender Market was created to empower indie artists & developers using the software we all love. We are all Blenderheads who eat, sleep and bleed Blender and our goal is to give our community a trusted platform for making a living with Blender.

The vision was to create a sustainable and stable environment for developers & artists, allowing them to get paid for doing what they love creating custom tools, and incentivizing them to deliver assets and add-ons that are invaluable to the community.

Supporting the Blender Development Fund

The Blender Market is a corporate Bronze Sponsor of the Blender Development Fund and our built-in features allow Blender Market creators to automatically donate a percentage of their earning directly back to the Fund. This means that making a purchase on the Blender Market not only supports a creator but also helps make Blender better than ever before.

My role on the Blender Market is to largely ensure it has the resources and breathing room to succeed. While I'm accountable for the overall direction of CG Cookie and it's projects, the Blender Market is directed by CG Cookie partner & friend Jonathan Williamson.
